GLENCOE, IL (February 19, 2014) – Over 350 people came in from the cold to “Escape to Paradise,” a preview event for the Orchid Show. The Hawaiian Islands provided leis and a welcoming aloha to guests upon entry into the warm floral oasis, which featured 10,000 sensational orchids in floor-to-ceiling displays of colorful, fragrant blooms. Aloha Lives! played and hula dancers entertained while guests sipped a “paradise cocktail” and savored Hawaiian-inspired hors d’oeuvres.

The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society recently held its eighth annual All Aboard! Party amid the Garden’s festive indoor holiday and model train exhibition, Wonderland Express. In keeping with All Aboard! tradition, the benefit chairs, Marianne Bestler, of Hinsdale, and Carole Sandner, of Lake Bluff, evoked the theme of a grand train journey, “From Paris to Versailles in Style.” Peggy Carr, a Woman’s Board member since 1960, served as honorary chair of the event.

(Sept. 24, 2013) — The Guild of the Chicago Botanic Garden recently hosted the 15th Annual Harvest Ball, drawing 400 guests to the beautiful early fall grounds of the Chicago Botanic Garden. The ball raised $450,000 to support the development of the Learning Campus's educational display garden, designed by Mikyoung Kim. This new garden will welcome families of all backgrounds to the Garden, and its design will foster respect for our environment and inspire lifelong interest in and passion for the natural world and the sciences.
