Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society Evokes the Magic of the Northern Lights at its Annual All Aboard! Party

GLENCOE, IL (October 30, 2014) – The Woman’s Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society presents its ninth annual All Aboard! celebration at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014. This year’s theme “Aurora Borealis” conjures the excitement of a cold, clear night ablaze with swirling colors of gold, violet, rose, purple and green. Co-chaired by Ann Balusek and Glo Rolighed, both of Winnetka, the event begins with cocktails served amid Wonderland Express.

Guild of the Chicago Botanic Garden Hosts 16th Annual Harvest Ball

GLENCOE, IL (July 1, 2014) –The Guild of the Chicago Botanic Garden presents the 16th Annual Harvest Ball at 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, on the beautiful early fall grounds of the Chicago Botanic Garden. Guests for the black-tie garden party will be greeted with Moët & Chandon champagne as they walk through the Heritage Garden to a cocktail reception and silent auction in McGinley Pavilion.

325 Guests Attend Summer Dinner Dance

GLENCOE, IL (June 23, 2014) – More than 325 guests recently celebrated the beginning of the summer party season at the Summer Dinner Dance at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The black-tie soiree began with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served on the Esplanade, followed by an intimate dinner dance in an elegant pavilion. One of the most talked-about events on the North Shore and in the Chicago area, the 2014 Summer Dinner Dance raised $425,000 for the Garden’s science and education programs.

The black-tie soiree begins at 7 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres served on the Esplanade, followed by an intimate dinner dance in an elegant pavilion. One of the most talked-about events on the North Shore and in the Chicago area, the 2014 Summer Dinner Dance benefits the Garden and supports its wide-ranging, high-impact programs.

Over 350 Guests “Escape to Paradise”

GLENCOE, Ill. (February 19, 2014) – Over 350 people came in from the cold to “Escape to Paradise,” a preview event for the Orchid Show. The Hawaiian Islands provided leis and a welcoming aloha to guests upon entry into the warm floral oasis, which featured 10,000 sensational orchids in floor-to-ceiling displays of colorful, fragrant blooms. Aloha Lives! played and hula dancers entertained while guests sipped a “paradise cocktail” and savored Hawaiian-inspired hors d’oeuvres.

More than 300 Guests Attend All Aboard! Party

The Woman's Board of the Chicago Horticultural Society recently held its eighth annual All Aboard! Party amid the Garden’s festive indoor holiday and model train exhibition, Wonderland Express. In keeping with All Aboard! tradition, the benefit chairs, Marianne Bestler, of Hinsdale, and Carole Sandner, of Lake Bluff, evoked the theme of a grand train journey, “From Paris to Versailles in Style.” Peggy Carr, a Woman’s Board member since 1960, served as honorary chair of the event.
