Giving Tuesday
Plants make people—and our planet—thrive
Pause. Take a moment.
What happens when you glimpse the bloom of thousands of spring tulips or feel a cool breeze underneath a canopy of red oaks?
A growing body of research shows that spending time in green spaces benefits all of us.
Consider the patient who calls her weekly walks at the Chicago Botanic Garden “essential to her treatment and recovery,” or the young man, harvesting produce at our urban farm, who said, “You think this is about growing food. I’m here to tell you this is about growing lives.”
This Giving Tuesday, your donation to the Garden will help us continue to touch lives while growing a better world.
Creating Sanctuaries for Body and Mind
"I'm so appreciative because this is such a safe place...it's my respite," confided a participant in our horticultural therapy program, which helps children with disabilities, veterans, Alzheimer’s patients, and others.
Transforming Lives Through Plants
"I have used all the fruits and veggies that the Garden provided and I hope that this program never finishes," shared a West Side resident who receives produce that the Garden grows and gives to those who can’t afford or access fresh vegetables and fruits.
Preserving Biodiversity, One Bee at a Time
“I craned my neck and immediately saw her: a rusty patched bumblebee worker busily gathering pollen,” shared a Garden scientist, who said the Garden’s carefully preserved habitats have provided a sanctuary for the endangered bees.
