Anthurium andraeanum 'Anthzupap'

42.14719391, -87.78971863

Flamingo Flower

This plant blooms most heavily in winter but will produce sporadic flowers throughout the year. Bright, glossy red heart-shaped flowers with a prominent spadix in orange are held well above the dark green, glossy, heart-shaped leaves. Anthuriums can tolerate light-to-moderate shaded environments, as long as the relative humidity and temperatures remain high. In many drier home environments, it is prone to infections of spider mites in winter. The treatment is relatively straightforward—periodically take it to the bathroom and give it a warm shower.
