Birthwort is is an upright perennial that grows to a maximum height of 3 feet. It requires full sun or partial shade and moderate moisture conditions. In late spring and early summer it produces showy yellow or brown flowers. This vine can be used as a ground cover or in a border. It was considered to be medicinal but has been found to be highly toxic.
