Red flower pea is an oval upright shrub that grows 20 feet tall and 18 feet wide. It is easy to grow, very cold hardy, and adaptable to soil, drought, and wind. Despite that fact, it is not often seen in cultivation. It prefers full sun where it produces purplish red flowers from March to June; the foliage is deciduous, and it is resistant to deer.
