Intenz Wheat Celosia

Intense, reddish-purple finger-like spikes top this annual, which matures at 18 inches in height. Plant 'Intenz' after the danger of frost has passed in sunny, well-drained soil, and water it until the root system becomes established. This cultivar flowers continuously from late spring up to the first hard frost. Songbirds love the millet-like seeds.

Wheat celosias are more petite versions of their cousins, plumed celosia and cockscomb. The species is in the amaranth family and is native to tropical Asia.
