Scotch Broom

Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) is a shrub that is covered with golden flowers in early spring. The green stems are prominent with small, relatively insignifcant leaves that drop during periods of drought and in winter. The flowers are heavily perfumed with the scent of honey and attract many pollinating insects. In warmer climates, this native of Europe has been known to escape cultivation and invade natural areas.
