Two foot bloom spikes in summer are heavily covered with a many orange flowers that are particularly effective at attracting hummingbirds. The chocolate maroon foliage with bright white spines is particularly eye-catching. Grow in full sun in well drained soils and add supplemental water if leaves start to lose their plump appearance.
