Hot Rio Nights Lobster Claw

Hot Rio Nights lobster claw heliconia is derived form the heliconies of south America. Hot Rio Nights has spectacular 18 inch red zigzagging flower bracts that are reminiscent of the shape and size of a lobster claw. This plant has long green leaves like a banana or canna which can grow to a height of 12 feet. Over time this plant can form clumps up to ten feet wide making them suitable for screens or hedges in warmer locations. Heliconias like moist but freely-draining soils and require regular feeding. Prune spent foliage and flowers.
