Feathery spikes of pink, honey-scented flowers in June and July are followed by the foliage turning purplish red with the onset of cooler temperatures in fall. This nonhardy grass from Africa is suitable for use in annual displays in the Chicago area. Plant 'Savannah' in full sun and moderately fertile soils.
