Giant Chinese Silver Grass

This is a tall 12-foot grass that is native to China, Japan, and some Pacific Islands. Giant Chinese silver grass has showy flower heads that appear in late summer. It is tolerant of a wide range of soil types and moisture levels. It requires full sun; partial shade may cause the plant to flop. It forms clumps up to 4 feet and rarely needs staking. Clumps should be left up during the winter and cut back in the spring.
