Spur Flower

Silver Shield is version of the Australian native silver spurflower which is prized for its attractive silvery foliage. Silver Shield grows to about two to three feet tall and wide and prefers part shade and well-drained soils. Small white flowers appear in mid-summer. Silver Shield spurflower will not tolerate clay soils or frost but can be overwintered as a houseplant in a cool bright location. It is usually grown as a contrast plant in borders as its fuzzy leaves and silvery appearance can be a useful counterpoint to brightly flowering perennials and annuals.
