Mandarin Lights Rhododendron
One of the Northern Lights series of very hardy azaleas (to -40 degees), this cultivar was developed by the University of Minnesota. The plants are compact, with deciduous small leaves, and will reach a height of six feet with a similar spread. In late May, specatacular red-orange flowers with a pleasing fragrance appear on leafless stems. It needs well-drained, organic, acid soil and thrives in sun or partial shade.
