Clove Currant
Clove currant (Ribes odoratum), a native of eastern Canada and the United States, produces intensely clove-scented flowers all along the branches in spring. Female plants produce black fruit in late summer followed by yellowish fall color. Plant in any reasonably well-drained soil in full to partial sun and provide room for the plant to slowly spread by suckers. It attracts butterflies and is deer resistant.
