Belle Isis Gallica Rose
'Belle Isis' goes back to 1845. The Empress Josephine had it in her famous rose gardens at Malmaison. The very light pure pink flowers are fully double and quartered, and have a strong spicy fragrance sometimes described at myhrr. At 3 inches across, the flowers aren't large, but this rose blooms in clusters, so in full bloom it makes a strong visual impact.
'Belle Isis' is an heirloom rose, a Gallica, and like so many in that category she doesn't repeat. But unlike most in her family, she does have good disease resistance, and she's hardy to Zone 4, so care is relatively easy. Full sun, moist soil, and fertilizer when she leafs out in the spring.
