George Vancouver Shrub Rose

George Vancouver shrub rose (Rosa ‘George Vancouver’), like many other shrub roses, is blooming now, and you can see its clusters of cherry red flowers in the north perimeter bed in the Rose Garden. Growing about 3 feet tall and wide, ‘George Vancouver’ is winter hardy to Zone 2 and 3, like all members of the Canadian Explorer rose series. This rose was introduced in 1994 and the assignee of the patent was "Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Canada, as represented by the Minister of Agriculture." George Vancouver was an 18th century British naval officer who charted the northwest Pacific coast.
