Floribunda Rose
Mardi Gras floribunda rose (Rosa 'Jacfrain') features 4-inch blooms that start out as apricot-orange buds, then open to softly tinted petals that are pink-orange at the tips with a yellow interior. The floribunda group are known for producing multiple, hybrid-tea-shaped flowers in sprays. Their dark green stems can grow up to 20 inches before they bloom, and the overall shape of the plant is upright, almost columnar. Mardi Gras rose has a moderate, peppery fragrance. This cultivar was selected by the All-America Rose Selections group based upon its outstanding performance in a number of different climates across the United States. Like other roses, it needs a sunny position with moderately fertile, moist soils, and spacing between plants to reduce the incidence or severity of the foliar diseases known as black spot, powdery mildew, or downy mildew.
