Large pincushions of lavender to purplish blue flowers on tall wand-like stems bounce about in summer breezes when plants are grown in full sun and moderately well drained soils. This short lived perennial can become a permanent addition to the garden only if allowed to reseed. Honeybees, butterflies and hummingbirds find the flowers irresistible.
