Stoke's Aster

This plant has such pretty blue flowers from June to September that it was named for the mighty Danube river and also the romantic blue Danube waltz.

The Blue Danube Stokes aster is derived from a wildflower found in the eastern parts of North America where it likes sunny spots by sandy wetlands. However in northern climates such as Chicago it does not tolerate wet soils in winter so plant in a well-drained location to ensure longevity. This pretty blue aster bears blue flowers with white centers up to three inches in diameter and grows to a height and width of about eighteen inches. It tolerates drought conditions and rabbits.
