Lemon Thyme
Lemon Thyme is a hybrid of Common Thyme (T. vulgaris) and Broad-leaved Thyme (T. pulegioides) that is grown for its rich, lemon-scented leaves that can be used fresh or dried in a variety of dishes. It is a woody perennial that can grow to 4-12" tall and 18” wide. Whorls of tiny, pale lilac flowers appear on the stem ends in early summer and are attractive to bees. It grows in average, dry to medium, well-drained soils in full sun and can tolerate drought and soils of low fertility. It will rot in moist to wet soils. Cut back stems as necessary to maintain plant appearance and size.
