Learn more about Science First

Science First/College First

Each summer, students from Chicago Public Schools travel to the Garden by school bus from designated stops to spend four weeks immersed in the nature-based science enrichment programs Science First and College First, where they learn about botany and ecology and use the scientific method to answer real-world science problems.

Kris Jarantoski Campus

About 250,000 plants make their way through the Chicago Botanic Garden's production area each year. A new plant production facility and display garden named in honor of retired Executive Vice President and Director Kris Jarantoski will unite the Garden's south end, including the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center, Evening Island, and the Dixon Prairie.
