Aquatic Ecology

The Chicago region hosts some fascinating aquatic ecosystems that are teeming with life. In this three-day workshop, we will identify different kinds of wetlands, compare ponds and rivers, and discover plant and animal adaptations for surviving in a waterlogged environment. We will learn how to assess water quality and perform experiments to understand how wetlands clean surface water. We will also learn to create a temporary pond in a classroom and make simple water sampling tools.
