Green Spiral Silver Fir

'Green Spiral' is a novelty form of a pyramidal evergreen conifer that can reach 150 feet in height in its native habitat in Europe. The branches twist and weep forming a tree of a most irregular shape that will only reach about 25 feet. Its bicolored needles are dark green on top and white underneath, giving the tree a silvery appearance. It grows in full sun to partial shade and moderate moisture conditions. Firs are mostly native to mountainous regions, where they grow in rich, acid soil. They are not very tolerant of hot, dry summers or pollution.
