Nordmann Fir
The Nordmann fir is native to the mountains west and east of the Black Sea. It has bicolored needles that are dark green on top and blue green on the underside. It is favored as a Christmas tree for its shape, and color of the blunt needles, which remain on the tree longer than average. It is also valued as a landscape tree and has won the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. Plant in full sun in moisture retentive soils, and provide supplemental irrigation during droughts.
