David Maple

This is another snake bark maple that is native to China. It was discovered by a Basque priest named Armand David which is reflected in its species name, davidii, and its common name, Pere David's Maple. The tree can grow to 50 feet with a slightly narrower spread and can be multitrunked. The bark pattern is pale olive green or white stripes on darker olive bark. Its foliage is "un-maple" like in that it isn't lobed. Fall color may be bright red, orange or yellow. It is hardy to Zone 5.
