Andrea Atkinson Windflower

Sparkling white, semi-double flowers are produced atop long, wiry stems from late August into late October on this hardy perennial. This Japanese anemone, also known as windflower (Anemone;hybrida 'Andrea Atkinson') requires moist soil but can tolerate either partial shade or full sun. Butterflies are attracted to the flowers, but deer are repelled by the flavor of the leaves. In trials of fall-blooming anemones at the Chicago Botanic Garden, this cultivar was ranked in the top three selections for ease of growth, flower production, and disease resistance.
