Florist's Spiraea

'Montgomery' has red to dark red plumes on top of mounded dark green foliage. The thick, fluffy panicles are comprised of tiny densely packed flowers which bloom in  early to mid summer. 'Montgomery' grows to 21-24 inches tall. It likes wet or constantly moist soil, making it a good choice for wet areas. It does well in partial shade to shade and will add a welcome touch of color to a shady garden. It is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds while it is resistant to rabbits and deer. After the blooms have died, the stalks with the dried seed heads are often left in place for winter interest.
