Toki Clematis
Clematis 'Toki' produces very large, snowy white eight-petaled flowers in late May to early June. In the center of each flower is a cluster of champagne-colored anthers. One of the earliest of the large-flowered clematis to bloom, it was released in 1989 by Kozo Sugimoto of Japan. After the initial flowering, it will produce a few flowers later in the season, but they may not be as large. Since they flower on the previous year's growth, do not prune until after the flowering. As with other clematis, they like their feet in the shade, and their heads in the sun. So plant them in a spot where the ground is shaded, but they will grow into a full sun situation.
