Copiapoa de Philipi

Light yellow flowers in winter adorn this native of the Atacama Desert of Chile during winter in Chicago. The light green barrels pick up a tint of red in full sun. This cactus forms large clumps, and individual stems can reach 5 feet in height. Not at all frost hardy, this plant needs full sun, warm temperatures, and very well-drained soils that remain dry during dormancy.
