Grace Smoke Tree

An upright, spreading shrub, this vigorous hybrid is intermediate between its parents, Velvet Cloak smoke tree and American smoke tree. It is used in the home landscape. Although each flower is inconspicuous, the flower clusters borne on long panicles appear fuzzy and light, like puffs of smoke. Grace has extremely large pink panicles, 14 inches long by 11 inches wide. Its fruit is inconspicuous, but by fruiting time, the flower panicles are showy. With its reddish-purple fall color, it provides three seasons of interest, but it is best known for its hairy flower panicles in late summer.
