Jindai Tatarian Aster

Jindai tatarian aster (Galatella tataricus 'Jindai') is a bold perennial that blooms in late September to October, just when most perennials are fading. It is a true aster from Asia, with stiffly upright, jagged-toothed leaves topped by tight clusters of lavender-blue flowers with yellow centers in what is botanically called a flat-topped corymb. At 4 feet tall, 'Jindai' is shorter that the species. It is a vigorous plant, and after it is established, it can form large colonies.
