'Elegant Explosion' daylily explodes with a dynamite sparkling orange-gold color beginning in midsummer. It may re-bloom later in the season. The 4 inch, dramatically re-curved blossoms have heavily ruffled petals. 'Elegant Explosion' is nocturnal, opening in late afternoon and closing the next morning. Although each flower lasts only one night, there are multiple buds on each stalk and several stalks on each plant. The buds open in series, so a single plant will continue to bloom for 2 weeks or more. The plant is easy to grow and does well in full sun to part shade.
