Stainless Steel Alumroot

Stainless Steel Alumroot is a great shade garden selection. This Heuchera was bred by Charles and Martha Oliver of the Primrose Path, and introduced by Plants Nouveau in 2011. They found a unique selection that has foliage that emerges with leaves that appear painted with liquid silver. As the foliage matures the silver coating becomes pale green with light purple veins. The undersides are a vivid contrasting dark purple. Stunning. Unlike many other striking foliage introductions, the flowers are equally attractive. Stainless Steel Alumroot is a strong bloomer with outstanding, numerous tall panicles of creamy white flowers. Stainless Steel Alumroot matures to 12 inches tall and 24 inches wide. The inflorescences appear high over the silver foliage in late spring and summer and increase the height to 2 feet. Fantastic in a container, border or as a groundcover in semi- to full shade. Although it will tolerate dry conditions, it prefers moderate moisture. Leaf scorching occurs in hot sunny conditions. Attractive to bees and hummingbirds and resistant to deer.
