Panicle Hydrangea
‘ILVOBO’ is sold under its trademark name BOBO. This is a compact dwarf shrub that stands 2 to 3 ft tall with a spread of 3 to 4 ft. It has large, conical flowerheads measuring up to 11inches on strong stems that don’t droop. The flower clusters are a mixture of showy but sterile flowers with smaller, fertile but nonshowy flowers underneath. The flowers emerge white in July, and last until the fall, turning pink as they mature. The color of the flowers is not affected by the pH of the soil. 'ILVOBO’ does well in full sun to light shade and is moderately drought - tolerant . It blooms on new wood so the flowers are not susceptible to late spring frosts. This is a hybrid of Hydrangea paniculatawhich is native to Japan, China and Korea where it grows at altitudes up to 4,000 ft.
