Applause Oakleaf Hydrangea
Applause Oakleaf Hydrangea is a smaller more compact version of the species with the typical conically shaped mass of flowers at the tips of the branches in mid-summer and wine red fall color. This plant can be grown in full sun or partially shaded locations in soils that are consistently moist yet well drained. Deer seem to find the dormant twigs irresistible, other than that it is relatively pest free.
