Pseudata Iris

Iris 'Kinshikou' is a pseudata iris with a lovely blend of unusual colors. The falls are a soft rose over yellow creating an almost peach effect. The style arms and the very small standards are light yellow. The signals are a deep yellow surrounded by a dark wine eyelash pattern. The stalks stand 37 inches high with 3 branches and at least 6 buds on each stem. Kinshikou means “golden monkey”. A pseudata iris is a cross between a Japanese iris (Iris ensata) and Iris pseudacorus. These hybrids have introduced the color yellow into the form of a Japanese iris. Pseudata irises thrive in or near water but also do well in garden conditions. They are attractive to hummingbirds while resistant to deer. Although they are vigorous growers, they are sterile and will not spread in waterways.
