Line Drive Bearded Iris
This intermediate bearded iris blooms heavily in spring and then again with a fewer number of flowers in fall, dependent upon a long warm summer. The flowers are white and the standards (upright petals) are described as being 'washed' in violet-blue whereas the falls are heavily veined in the same violet blue color - a striking combination and the flowers produce a spicy fragrance. Full sun, well drained soils with moderate fertilization throughout the season. Prone to iris borers in the Chicago area - they are worth the effort to provide control of these pesky moth larvae.
