Iris 'Silken Trim' is a stunning deep wine color with ruffled petals. The falls are a little darker than the standards and the beards are dark yellow. The stems stand 36 inches high with 2 branches and double socketed buds. It blooms in late season. The foliage is blue green and sword shaped. This is an excellent cut flower and is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds while resistant to rabbits and deer. Iris is the name of the Greek goddess of the rainbow. The classic 'Fleur de Lys' which has been a symbol of royalty throughout history is an adaptation of the iris flower.
