Interior Blue Flag Iris

Iris virginica var. shrevei, commonly known as southern blue flag, is native to the southeastern coast of the United States. It blooms in late spring with light to medium blue flowers. The falls have a yellow blotch and purple veins at the base. The stems are 2 to 3 feet tall and usually unbranched. The flowers are slightly below the leaves on the stem. The rhizomes are large, branched, and clump forming. This species is native to wet or boggy soils and will do well with wet feet in full sun or part shade.
