The fuzzy, tubular, orange flowers of lion's tail (Leonotis leonurus) are produced at widely spaced nodes along the stem of this tall (up to 6 feet), nonhardy perennial from South Africa. Gray lanceolate leaves provide a perfect backdrop for the distinctive flowers, which attract bees, butterflies, and birds to the garden.
