Blanche Sandman Honeysuckle
Native to the southeastern and central United States, trumpet honeysuckle is a woody perennial vine that will twine up a trellis, wall, or fence and grows up to 18 feet. From May to October , this cultivar produces clusters of funnel-shaped flowers that are bright red on the outside and yellow-orange on the inside. The flowers are pollinated by the ruby-throated hummingbird and provide it with nectar. After blooming, red berries are produced that are enjoyed by birds (but not people). In this area the leaves are deciduous, and the stems die down to the ground during the winter.
