Bahama Beach Jonquil
Narcissus ‘Bahama Beach’ is in Division 7. It grows 20 –22 inches tall and blooms in late spring with 2½ inch scented flowers. The flowers face slightly upward and occur 4 per stem. Both the petals and the corona are light yellow. The corona is bowl shaped with a straight mouth and a frilled rim. The bulbs are toxic and will not be eaten by deer or rabbits. The name Narcissus comes from the Greek word for narcotic and is tied to the myth of a young man known as Narcissus who fell in love with his own reflection. When he drowned in the pool where he had been admiring himself, Narcissus flowers grew up around the pool.
