Dwarf Fountain Grass

Look at the shape of this grass: Does it remind you of a fountain jet? And the flowerheads, perhaps they look like fox tails?

Piglet dwarf fountain grass is a diminutive form of the very popular Hameln fountain grass. Piglet grows to about 18 inches tall and two feet wide with pinkish-white flowerheads appearing in late summer and persisting into fall. Fountain grass prefers full sun but will manage in partly sunny spots although flower production will lessen. This grass needs consistently moist soil so supplemental watering during drought periods may be necessary. As with most ornamental grasses the seed heads are generally maintained for winter interest and are cut back in late winter or early spring. Fountain grass tolerates black walnut.
