Hairy Mock Orange

The hairy mock orange takes its name from the undersides of the leaves which are noticeably hairy. This plant is native to rocky outcrops in the south-eastern parts of the US. Hairy mock orange grows to about twelve feet in height and about nine feet in width with a rounded yet open growth habit. In the late spring or early summer it bears scented white flowers that are attractive to pollinators. Because of its size, this shrub makes an excellent screen or hedge. It prefers a sunny well-drained location with consistently moist soil.
