Amethyst Pearl Phlox

Phlox ‘Amethyst Pearl’ grows 16 – 20 inches tall and blooms in spring to early summer with fragrant, mauve lilac flowers in loose panicles. This was a mutation found on the cultivar ‘Minnie Pearl’, which is believed to be a cross between Phlox maculata and Phlox glaberrima that was found in Mississippi. It is attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds and is hardy in zones 4 - 9. The genus name is from the Greek word phlox meaning flame in reference to the many bright colors of some varieties.
