Garden Phlox

The paniculata species of phlox are the most magnificent and there is a huge selection of plants to choose from. Short and sweet is an apt description for this perennial; plant 'Peppermint Twist' in full sun in fertile moist soil where it will grow to 16 inches and produce fragrant flowers resembling pinwheels of alternating pink and white in July to August. It is also highly susceptible to powdery mildew. To reduce its occurrence, provide good air circulation and water the base of the plant, not the foliage. It is attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies.
