Moss Phlox
Phlox subulata ‘Emerald Blue’ is commonly known as a moss phlox or creeping phlox. It grows only 6 inches high, forming a dense mat of dark green foliage 36 inches wide. It blooms in mid to late spring with a showy display of deep blue flowers. Plant it in full sun. It is resistant to deer and is hardy in zones 3-9. The genus name is from the Greek word phlox meaning flame in reference to the many bright colors of some varieties.
