Devil's Tears Cape Figwort

Scarlet red tubular flowers with yellow throats are attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies and humans alike. This non-hardy shrub from South Africa flowers continuously from early June up to the first hard frost - typically around mid-October in the Chicago area. Bright light and moderately moist fertile soils are keys to gardening success. Can be dug up from the garden and held indoors during the winter months if a bright light with good airflow location is available.
