Slowmound Mugho Pine

Mugho pines are neatly mounded evergreen shrubs, great for Japanese gardens. This cultivar grows very slowly, reaching only 2 feet in height, with even, dense branching. Mugho pines, or Swiss mountain pines, are European natives growing at high altitudes and are extremely cold hardy (Zone 2). Their light green needles are slightly curved and grow in bundles of two. It prefers well-drained, loose soil in full sun or partial shade. It is easily transplanted.
