Hybrid Perpetual Rose

'Baron Girod de l'Ain' is an heirloom rose, first discovered in 1897 as a naturally occuring hybrid of another heirloom, 'Eugene Furst.' The very double, fragrant flowers are red, blending to deep pink, each petal delicately outlined with a fine line of white that accents its ruffled appearance. Unlike many heirlooms, it does repeat, in flushes, throughout the growing season. And it tolerates partial shade and poor soil.

Unfortunately,  it's also disease-prone, so a regular protection program against black spot and mildew may be needed. For best bloom, give it full sun and fertilize in spring and again mid-summer.
